DIRECTOR AND ARTIST
Marguerite Bouchard
Marguerite Bouchard is an artist and the director of Epiphany Neighbourhood Art Studios. She has worked across portraiture, calligraphy, murals, commercial chalk art, watercolour, acrylics, and oils, with a lifelong focus on creating and encouraging creativity in others.
After years of teaching in home-education co-ops and community settings, she studied colour mixing and oil glazing with Bob Barrett in 2015. In 2022, she took on leadership of Epiphany Neighbourhood Art Studios, carrying its tradition into the studio’s next chapter.
HOW WE TEACH
Individual guidance inside a creative community
Many of our classes use an open-learning approach. Students work within a shared studio environment while instructors adapt challenges, demonstrations, and guidance to each artist’s experience and goals.
That means students can learn alongside one another without everyone needing to make the exact same artwork. The goal is not simply to copy a project. The goal is to understand the tools and techniques well enough to make creative decisions of your own.
Our approach to art and creativity
We teach classical art with excellence, particularly through the tools and techniques of drawing and painting, while nurturing love, wisdom, beauty, and peace. Through disciplined artistic practice and a spirit-centered approach to learning, we encourage students to develop their creative abilities, listen for inspiration, and explore the ways art can reflect truth, reveal beauty, inspire hope, and serve the good of the community. In this environment, we seek to nurture the prophetic creative abilities within each person.

THE STUDIO HISTORY
Rooted in art, growing with community
The Neighbourhood Art Studio began in 1991 under the creative direction of artist Robert “Bob” T. Barrett as Fraser River Galleries Inc. The school became known for traditional, representational art instruction and a casual class structure with one-to-one guidance in a group setting.
In 2022, ownership moved to Marguerite Bouchard, a lifelong artist and former student of Bob’s, as the studio relocated from North Langley to Willoughby. Across its history, thousands of children, youth, adults, and seniors have developed technique and a love for art here.
Today, Epiphany Neighbourhood Art Studios is entering a new chapter as a charitable nonprofit. Its future can include classes, workshops, events, partnerships, community programming, and new ways of making meaningful art experiences accessible.
